Remixing is a very popular technique in music that uses samples from other songs too create or enhance the sound of new or existing songs. For this assignment I sampled from a fellow classmate Joaquin Gutierrez. I really liked the somber and futuristic style of this song and the sample I chose from it. I decided to try something new and create an instrumental son that would fit a dramatic scene such as a movie. That is why I named this track "Escape" because in the beginning it starts of dark but towards the end it feel liberating. Mixing and mastering this was a blast since I learned new techniques.

One cool things to do is to find popular artists' songs and see which songs are sampled. After all, it is said that everything is a remix. By using the website whosampled.com I was able to see exactly that. One artist and song in particular that I wanted to focus on was Beyoncé and her song "Hold Up" from her Lemonade album. I choose this song because I loved the island vibe of the instrumentation. But then I recently learned that the instrumentation was actually a sample from Andy William's song "Can't Get Used to Losing You". It is so cool because the instrumentation can be heard all over "Hold Up" and is basically the backbone of the song.
