A MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and is a device that communicates between electronic equipment. I happen to have a MIDI and doing this assignment has been fun since I learned how to use it in Fl Studio. What is cool about MIDI's is that they themselves don't actually produce sound but take in information and make it playable by a controller. This made easier for me to create a beat on FL Studio for this composition assignment.
Making this beat at first was tough. I was used to making beats, bot not on a MIDI controller. But once I got the hang of it things ran smoothly. This short composition doesn't sound the best, however I learned a lot. The beat itself relies heavily on the 808 kick and a synth that is meant to sound kinda like strings. However for the original synth, I shaped the envelope into a shape that I liked better to give it a Hip Hop vibe. In the end, I'm glad I tried something new!
