For this project I decided to produce and sing a demo of an incomplete song idea. I figured this would be a cool way to hash out general feelings of what I want in terms of production, harmonies, and arrangements. This was also a great opportunity for me to practice recording and mixing. This song is called 'Fly With You' and since I'm still brainstorming, the lyrics are not complete nor do they make a lot of sense together. However, the content suggests practicing self-care and enjoying who you are by it addressing yourself.

Of course the DAW I used was FL Studio. In total, I sang a total of 32 tracks. The instruments I used were the piano, acoustic guitar, a variety of R&B based percussion instruments, and a string section. I first started with the chord progressions with the piano and sting section since they were the ones that carried a lot of the tonal quality before I recored. I then made the percussion beat around what I felt the chord progressions needed.
After that I sang/vocal arranged the melody and harmonies. It took me a while because I doubled the chorus and tag which required me to sing two passes of each harmony/melody so that I can pan them to the left/right for a 3-d or surround sound effect. I left the verses and ad libs 'in the middle' of the mix.
When it came to mixing, it was fun because I had so many vocal stems. (It is important to know that I already have my vocal setting preset from recording previous projects). It was a bit tricky getting the levels close to where I wanted them because there was so many moving parts of this short demo. EQing the instruments were fun because there were different things I liked about each one that I wanted to bring out in the mix. On the ad libs I decided to add a delay effect to make them sound somewhat operatic. Overall I agree that there is still more work to be done, I just need more ideas.
