Hey everyone! I am so excited to share this project with you all because I've always wanted to complete it but never had the time. This is an original song that I wrote last year. The song is called 'Consumer' and it is based on the feeling of having the impulse to buy things whether that be in-store or online. It is meant to be a fun yet satiric Pop song with a grain of truth about consumerism.
Now that I am a more seasoned producer, musician, and vocalist, it felt amazing to open up an old project and attempt to finish what I started. (There may be some tweaks but this is the overall direction I am looking for.
As stated previously, I wrote this song last year so I already had a beat. All I needed to do was sing my vocals for this project, mix it, and add the desired effects. I first started with color-coding my project to be organized. I routed all of the beat sounds to their mixer channels. And then I recorded the vocals. I knew beforehand that I didn't want this song to be too vocal-heavy in terms of harmony, but very present. It took me about 3 hours to record everything.

After I finished recording I decided to pitch correct my vocals so the harmonies would blend. that took a long time because, before this project, I have never used pitch correction before.

Once I was finished recording I was excited to start mixing. I used subtractive mixing to set the faders of my channels. I next applied EQ to my channels, which didn't take too long, and decided to 'wire' my channels to a reverb bus to be more efficient.
I later paid attention to the sound effects that I used and I chose to use a flanger on 'Coin'.

To say this project was hard work at times felt like an understatement. Don't get me wrong, I love doing this. There were just so many moving parts that were a bit difficult to manage.
Down below is how everything turned out. I am not quite ready to release it because I want to work on it a little more in case I have a change of opinion. If all goes well, this most likely will be a single sometime soon. Enjoy!
