What About Touring?

Touring is something that has always been on my mind since finding my love of performing. I love to perform and I love to travel so it only seems appropriate that I would tour sometime in the future. Luckily in our school book "How to Make in the New Music Business" by Ari Herstand, I have learned more information about touring. Luckily for me, I do have some touring experience with the New America Singers. I went on tour with them last year performing at schools in Hong Kong and the Philippines. Yet, that tour was especially different because now I have to think about a tour that will promote my music. First I need to think about a region.
The initial region that I would choose to start a tour in is in the San Fransisco area. I would love to start up north and move south along California since this is my home state. This goes in hand with my previous post about having a home town except this is a region. Down below are the top 5 cities I would route a tour.
San Fransisco
Santa Cruz
San Luis Obispo
Santa Barbara
Los Angeles
Somewhere along the line I would of course to to Bakersfield and other cities. Since this would be one of my first tours with original music as an artist, The main goal of this tour would be to gain more fans and experience performing live. The overall vibe that I would want this tour to have is nostalgia, fun, engagement, and definitely as sense of a "band-jam" amongst fellow music lovers. The venues that I would probably fit my current vibe would be coffee shops, restaurants, market places, fairs, small theaters, and maybe even malls. I know that there places I could perform, it is just a matter of finding the right ones. For example, I don't know if singing in the club is quite my vibe. I prefer to have an authentic connection with my audience.
One of the most important aspects of routing and booking a tour is the pitch email for the venues. A pitch email is meant to be short and to the point. Here is what my pitch email would probably look like.

hey (insert name), I, Chris B., am passing through this area on June 12. This is my first time playing here, but in my previous performances I have drawn in crowds of about 35-45 people. for promotion I have a street team that will be putting out flyers and contacting my email subscriber (125 subscribers). I will also be contacting all local social media platforms to make sure this event gets the promotion it deserves. I expect to have about 20 tickets sold, can I grab a hold?

Although I am somewhat new in the music world, I understand that a lot of hard work comes into play with these type of things. Yet I am willing to work hard and connect with as much potential and current fans that I have and will have. I can't wait to see what the future beholds.
