One endeavor that I definitely want to make in my music career is in the TV, movie, gaming, and commercial world. In perspective these are wonderful opportunities to make money doing music and to gain exposure. It is crazy how many songs I can think of that I've often heard in a commercial such as Riptide by Vance Joy or Best Day Of My Life by American Authors. However, it is important that I get my music licensed to be used by media. That way music supervisors are able to clear their use of my song and I am able to make money. Right now in the music industry there are a lot of companies that do licensing. However, some companies don't directly take submissions from artist rather through someone they know. Yet, there are some licensing companies that support indie artists to insure more exposure to those wanting to use their music. Here below are three examples.
At the moment, I do not have any connections with people in sync licensing. I want to research more on the topic of sync licensing and then start to network because this realm of music is fairly foreign to me. I'm sure somewhere along the line I may know someone who knows someone. At the same time, I do not have any songs finished so I would definitely have to work on that. However, I will continue to find people to contact and ask them about their experiences so that I could get a clear grasp on what it is like having a song put in media.
