Crowdfunding is a wonderful way for an artist or band to generate funds for an upcoming project. This project could be something like an album or even a major performance. No matter what, it is important that you make sure that your fanbase feels involved in the whole process. After all, they are the ones invested in your career.
According to Ari Herstand in his book "How to Make it in the New Music Business" he describes how crowdfunding is the new 'asking' economy. And it completely makes sense in the modern age of music. There are many crowdfunding programs/websites as well as fan club programs/websites that serve as a great way to connect to potential and current fans. For a person like me, crowdfunding could be so beneficial because it'll allow me the opportunity to give 100% of my effort in any new project. In this case, my new project is a debut studio album, which I will not disclose the name of, that I am thinking of releasing sometime in the spring. Since I am a relatively new artist, I will need a lot of promotional money so that I can draw people to me. At the moment, I am debating if I should invest in a sound engineer since all of the audio work I do myself. Here bellow is a chart of the crowdfunding places that come to mind.
For me, the crowdfunding program that suits me best seems to be IndieGoGo since it seems to be flexible and easy to learn.
Here bellow is a chart of fan club programs/websites that I found interesting.
For me in terms of fanbase websites, I would choose Patreon because it is well known and would give me a reliability effect since I have a greater reason to put out more content.
