Cracking the Local Gatekeepers

When it comes to music, it is great to have a "home base". This means having support in your local area. It provides a sense of belonging and personally I like having local support because it makes me feel like I'm giving back to the community. Another plus side of it is that you are able to network with other people in music business that are local. This could either represent itself in DJ's, radio hosts, promoters, restaurant owners, and even local singers. Here below I listed 10 potential "gatekeepers" in the Bakersfield music scene.

Although there are group of "local gatekeepers", it is important to note that I still have connections or contacts that are not local. Thanks to social media, I am connected to RnB Central and LDNRBS which are both located in the UK. I also know people in who sing backup or are in the industry themselves who don't live in Bakersfield. Either way, it is quite amazing how music is the thing that brings us all together.
